Year Round Schools

 My opinion on year round schooling is that its not a good idea. If parents really wanted their children to go to a year round school they would find a school that provided year round schooling. Some reasons that this is a horrible idea...

1. Cutting summer short- Summer gives kids something to look forward and a time to relax. What about those kids with summer jobs or those who are looking for them. They need those jobs to save up for college, Junior, and Senior year and maybe even to help pay bills.

2. If some kids are acting like they are now in school and its not year round just think how it will be when it is. Another thing is the drop out rates are high now just think about how much greater they'll become if schools are year round. Some teenagers barley want to be in school now.

3. Here is part of an article of a study that proves that year round schools arent going to change much or anything. 
“We found that students in year-round schools learn more during the summer, when others are on vacation, but they seem to learn less than other children during the rest of the year,” said Paul von Hippel, author of the study and research statistician in sociology at Ohio State.
The problem with year-round schools may be that they don't actually add more school days to the 180 typically required, von Hippel said. Instead of a three-month summer vacation, year-round schools typically have several breaks of three to four weeks spread throughout the year. The total number of school days and vacation days remains unchanged, but they are distributed more evenly over the calendar."
